The Dark Room
Peruse our photo collections taken, developed, or collected at the studio. The photographs are organized by theme and to the extent possible accompanied by an original poem or short story.
Photography is a modernist, humanist endeavor — having only been invented in the last three or four human lifetimes and used only be people (insofar as we know). And yet, photography is such a powerful medium to connect with the natural world and humanity’s ageless triumphs. At it’s worst, photography is a cheapening of art that buries us in our profligate desires for remembrance or attention. However, at its best photography is democratic, flexible, personal, and magical. With modern photographic tools, any dedicated person can share a portal into how their mind views the world without the need for oil paints. We can preserve a shadow of an old world disappearing and of personal, collective memories fading.
